Healthy tip -There is a member that joined The Fit and Well Club recently, Almost at the same time that she became a dear private client. After a week without training duo to a respiratory condition, yesterday she got back to the group classes taking the Body Alignment workout, when a use the foam roller for 15min, followed by 15min stretching, and 15min strengthening for better body alignment. Super low impact class and ideal for all fitness levels.

After the class was over she told me: “Thank you so much! I feel way better after this class”. I’m pretty sure she was talking about the instant wellness rushing through her body, instead of burning extra calories, and persuading her fitness goals. Sometimes, especially when you don’t feel well, going for a light workout will help you recover faster, and feel better. The foam roller is a great option to get the body moving again. Try one of my Body Alignment classes every Monday at 8am, and Wednesday at 12pm to learn how to release tight muscles, improve posture, relieve joint pain, and release the stress of your body, and mind.

This is what I love about my career: I truly believe exercise, and healthy eating habits will promote fitness, and wellness results. After taking the Body Alignment class yesterday, we had our private session today. She told me in advance: “I’m not sure how I will feel during the session, but let’s try”. A good trainer has to listen, and has to tailor the workouts accordingly. Even if it is at last minute notice.

During her 45min session we worked at releasing, and stretching her lower back, mid back, upper back, chest, and neck. Always focusing on breathing without putting extra stress in her body. The choice on addressing those muscles results as those assist on breathing. Surely they have been overwhelmed, and tight. After the session she thanked me again, and I know from my heart I delivered exactly what she needed to FEEL better. I’m really proud of myself…

The other day another dear member told me she heard my voice before attacking the kitchen for a late night snack: “If you feel you are hungry, try the foam roll first”. She said that after using the foam roller for fitness, the wellness she felt was like “something she was looking for the whole day”, and didn’t know how. I answered: “You were probably very tense, and stayed at that state the whole day. You needed something to help you relax, and the foam roller helped you”. Needless to say she didnt feel hungry after using the foam roller. Who here is not an emotional eater?

I’m addicted to foam rolling, and I have been in this journey for a long time. I use it at my personal training sessions, and during my classes. I used to teach foam rolling classes over New York City, and I feel it is something that is conquering more, and more space. Especially now with the social restrictions pushing us away from human contact. I really miss the hands of a good massage therapist…
